#When to use this

Your variations, metrics and targeting are set, and you want to be sure nothing breaks before real visitors see the test: the variation renders correctly, the right visitors qualify, and conversions are tracked. The REVIEW section of the campaign gathers the checks; the status dropdown in the top-right corner launches the campaign.

#Before you start

  • All required sections under DEFINE are complete. REVIEW becomes active only then.
  • The Wingify SmartCode is installed on the campaign pages.
  • Your browser allows pop-ups (previews open in new tabs), and ad blockers such as uBlock whitelist Wingify.
  • To start the campaign, you are an Account Owner or Admin, or have Publish permission.

#Steps

#1. Decide on activation and overlap (optional)

Before reviewing, check two settings under More configurations:

  • Manual Activation: select Enable manual campaign activation if the campaign must fire only after a specific action (a modal opening, a checkout step, SPA navigation) rather than on page load. Copy the code snippet shown and add it to your site. Not allowed for Split URL tests.
  • Mutually Exclusive: select Add to mutually exclusive group and choose an existing group, or click Create a mutually exclusive group, so a visitor bucketed into one campaign of the group never enters another. Use this whenever campaigns share a page, funnel or audience. You can also manage groups in Settings > Campaigns.

Click Save Now after each change.

#2. Read the Configuration summary

Open REVIEW > Configuration summary. Expand Pages, Variations, Targeting, Metrics, Guardrails, Traffic, SmartStats Configuration, Additional Options, Other Information and Domains, and use Edit to fix anything. If a URL uses an unregistered domain, click Register.

Tip: Review with Wingz (Early Access) at the top of the summary gives an AI-assisted review of your settings.

#3. Debug a URL (Early Access)

Open Debugger, enter any URL in the Debug tab and click Debug to check whether your campaign configuration applies to that page. The History tab lists previous runs.

#4. Preview each variation with Live Preview

Open Live Preview. The campaign URL is pre-filled in Preview URL; select a variation in Variation and click Preview in a new tab. Your site opens with the QA Assistant at the bottom, showing:

  • whether the page matches your URL conditions,
  • whether targeting conditions are satisfied (and letting you force the campaign if you don't match),
  • whether the variation changes were applied,
  • which metrics fire as you click through.

Repeat for every variation, and for each page if the campaign runs on several.

#5. Scan the Variation Screenshots

Open Variation Screenshots to see thumbnails of the control and every variation. Use Group by (Browser or Variation) and Select Browsers to compare across browsers. Screenshots can take a few seconds the first time.

#6. Restrict internal QA (optional)

To test on your live site with colleagues only, open QA Configurations and enable IP Address, Cookie Value or Query Parameter rules. Then set the status to In QA: only visitors matching these rules see the campaign. Reset to global defaults reverts to your account-wide rules.

#7. Start the campaign

Click the status dropdown in the top-right corner (it shows Draft) and select Start. The campaign moves to Running and Wingify starts serving variations to qualifying visitors. To launch later, choose Schedule Campaign from the same dropdown.

Warning: After launch, avoid changing the campaign: edits to metrics, traffic, targeting or variations are flagged as Experimentation Conduct issues and can invalidate data. Clone the campaign instead. To stop temporarily, pause it; paused campaigns keep their data.

#Check that it worked

  • The campaign shows the Running status in the header and in the Web Experimentation list.
  • The Reports tab is enabled and starts collecting visitors.
  • After a few hours, open Experiment Vitals in the report header: Wingify flags missing data tracking or conversions in the first six hours.

#Common questions

The preview doesn't show my changes. Why? Usually the SmartCode isn't running on the page, the preview URL doesn't match the campaign URL (check http vs https and regex escaping), or an ad blocker blocks Wingify. Clear cookies and try a private window. The help center also notes previews may not be available for campaigns in Draft; if so, move the campaign to In QA.

Who can start a campaign? Account Owners, Admins and users with Publish permission. Users with the Design role can move a campaign between Draft, In QA and Ready to launch only.

Can I preview a campaign targeted at another country? Yes. The QA Assistant lets you force-show a campaign you don't qualify for, so you can check the experience and tracking.

How many campaigns can a mutually exclusive group hold? At least two and up to 30. A campaign can belong to only one group at a time.
