Linking Hypothesis to a Test in Wingify

#Overview

A hypothesis is an assumption ("I think X happened because...") that explains an observation (an issue) for further investigation. This assumption may or may not be true.

For example, repositioning the sign-up button from the bottom of the page to the top of the page will increase conversions.

To validate your hypothesis, it is quite important to design a test/experiment that will accurately test your hypothesis. Based on the test results, you accept or reject the hypothesis.

To validate your hypothesis in Wingify, you must link it to a test campaign in Wingify. It can be done using any of these sections:

• The Hypotheses dashboard
• The Test dashboard
• The Observations dashboard

#Using the Hypotheses Dashboard

If you wish to link your hypothesis to a test campaign using the Hypotheses dashboard, follow this:

Procedure

1. Log in to your Wingify account.
2. From the panel on the left, go to Plan > Hypothesis.
3. Select a hypothesis you want to link to your test.
4. On the pop-up that appears, click on the Create a Test dropdown, and select the type of test you want to run for this hypothesis.

#Using the Web Experimentation Dashboard

If you wish to link your hypothesis to a test campaign using the test dashboard, follow this:

Procedure

1. Log in to your Wingify account.

2. From the panel on the left, go to Web Experimentation and select the type of test you want to work with, say A/B.

3. To start with, click Create to create a test.

4. In the New Campaign screen, select a hypothesis you want to link from the What hypothesis are you testing? dropdown.

   Note: If you do not have a hypothesis yet, you can create a new hypothesis by clicking on the Create a new hypothesis option at the bottom of the What hypothesis are you testing? dropdown.

5. Once you've linked your hypothesis to a test, you need to complete your test setup. To know how to set up a test, refer to Create a Campaign in Wingify.

#Using the Observations Dashboard

If you wish to link your hypothesis to a test campaign using the observations dashboard, follow this:

Procedure

1. Log in to your Wingify account.
2. From the panel on the left, go to Plan > Observations.
3. From the observations dashboard, click on the checkbox corresponding to an observation. With this, the option to link a new or existing hypothesis appears at the dashboard's top. If you have not created any hypotheses yet, create one using How to Create Hypotheses in Wingify.
4. Click on the Existing Hypothesis option.
5. From the hypothesis pop-up that appears, search for a hypothesis and click the Link option.
